Dr Carl Van Gils Medical Mission to Puebla, Mexico November 2-6, 2009
Dr. Carl Van Gils, the Medical Director of the DRMC Wound Clinic and physician of the Foot & Ankle Institute in St. George, Utah is taking his expertise of diabetic wound care to Puebla, Mexico to facilitate the growth of and educate physicians of diabetic wound care in that area. He will be there from November 2-6, 2009.
In conjunction with the Dixie Regional Medical Center Wound Clinic, the Foot & Ankle Institute, and the Hospital Universitario de Puebla’s Dr. Alberto Rivera, the goals of this medical mission are three fold:
- To educate the community and medical staff about diabetic foot care, amputation prevention, and wound care.
- To perform diabetic foot surgery.
- To assist local doctors in wound care and in the establishment of wound care protocols for effective treatments to be carried on after Dr. Van Gils departure.
Dr. Van Gils is grateful for the opportunity to assist and educate the doctors of the Puebla, Mexico area in diabetic wound care and hopes to establish a long relationship in order to facilitate better care and opportunities for diabetic patients in that area.
